Ok, well I really want to get #13. And I might be alone when I say this, but I think AG's bangs are a little thick for me. My bangs are more loose, and I was wondering if anyone had cut off the underside of the bangs? When I say that I mean just the hairs under. This is probably a terrible idea, but I really want to do it! That is, if it turns out ok.

You might consider "wispy" bangs instead of cutting a layer underneath off.
Look at figure "C" on this page:

I don't know if this would work on a wig but I have done it to my own hair when I wanted thin bangs.
With my dolls I usually brush each half of the bangs to the sides and try to leave just a small amount of hair in the center.

I saw what you posted, but it's hard to see. Would cutting the bangs on top make them loose? Or should I just get a new wig?

If you really want to do that, I'd cut on the bottom, that way if you mess it up, you still have the top to cover it. And also, you shouldn't be able to see the shorter hair if it's on bottom, it'll just seem like she has thinner bangs.

Personally, I'd rewig, just because I'd be afraid of messing up the wig, and having to rewig anyway.

My mom had to cut my doll's bangs because they were so long, you couldn't see her eyes. I'm surprised I let her cut them, because I won't even let her cut MY hair which will grow back. But her bangs turned out nice.

I really don't know what would happen if you cut the wig's bangs underneath or clip into the bangs since I've never attempted it.

Your Mom is good at wig cutting if she trimmed your doll's bangs correctly. For practice you could let her try thinning a cheaper doll's bangs. Sometimes you can find a doll with bad eyes or other defects for under $5.00 at thrift stores.

Hope you can get your #13 to look like your hair.

I cut Felicity's bangs (she had a new wig) but all I did was snip off some length, because she was telling me they got in her eyes too often.

I HAVE cut into dolls' bangs a couple of times, with the older dolls that had a very thick wig.

I wouldn't advise doing this unless you're a hairdresser.

If you have a hairdresser, take your doll there and let the hairdresser do it.

I trim my own bangs all the time to save on haircuts but mine grow back. I've tried cutting underneath, which makes the top layer stand out straight away from the doll's forehead, and I've tried nibbling vertically. Both resulted in rewigging the doll eventually.
